My work exists at the intersection of control and chance, where fire becomes a drawing tool and destruction gives birth to form. As a true mixed media artist, I work with whatever materials serve the image—acrylics, inks, cannon fuse, markers, even instant tea—building abstract compositions that bear the physical memory of their own making.
The burn patterns left by cannon fuse are central to my practice—precise yet unpredictable, they carve pathways across the surface that cannot be undone or replicated. What draws me to this process is the energy contained in each mark, the transformation of material through heat and time. There is something essential in the way fire claims the surface, leaving traces that speak to both violence and beauty, erasure and creation.
My work is built through layers—the fluidity of acrylics and inks, the staining quality of tea, the directness of markers, all meeting the scorched, irreversible marks of flame. The resulting patterns are intuitive and abstract, exploring relationships between color, texture, and the evidence of process. Each piece holds the tension between what I intend and what the materials demand, between the gesture and the aftermath.
Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, I continue to investigate how destruction and creation coexist, how energy can be captured in static form, and how the act of making can leave its shadow on the surface long after the fire has gone out.
